What is an Honorary Consul?

Honorary consuls relay the action of the Consulate General of France in San Francisco. They represent France locally and support the diplomatic, cultural and economic activities of France. They are not government officers but private individuals who fulfill their duties voluntarily.

The primary function of honorary consuls is to ensure the protection of French nationals and their interests, whether they are residents or visitors in the United States.
