NETVA - Class 2022 in San Francisco ! [fr]

From October 24 to 28, 2022, the Office for Science and Technology accompanied 3 French deeptech startups, winners of the NETVA acceleration program, during a week of immersion in the San Francisco Bay Area: C12, Biomemory and Scienta Lab.

During one week, the startups participated in workshops, networking events and meetings with academics, incubators, industrialists and investors in order to get acquainted with the specificities of Silicon Valley and to create partnerships to prepare a possible internationalization in the United States in the coming years.

NETVA : New Technology Venture Accelerator

Led by the Science and Technology Department of the French Embassy in the United States, NETVA is a support program that aims to meet the internationalization needs of young French startups developing innovative products with high added value.
After a selection process, the laureates of the contest participate in a personalized program in two parts:

  • a training seminar in Paris on how to approach North American markets ;
  • an immersion week in one of the seven most dynamic ecosystems in the United States, including San Francisco and Silicon Valley on the themes of artificial intelligence, data and emerging technologies for digital.

Immersion in San Francisco of the 2022 class

The immersion week in San Francisco took place from october 24 to 28.

Three startups in the fields of quantum, storage and artificial intelligence were hosted by the science office:

  • C12 is designing reliable carbon nanotube-based processor architectures for future quantum computers. By combining the exceptional properties of this material in its ultra-pure state with its compatibility with current microfabrication processes for semiconductor technologies, C12 combines performance and scaling.
  • Biomemory offers an extremely dense "cold" storage solution on DNA. "Cold" storage encompasses all data stored over the long term and rarely used. The use of processes that are compatible with scaling up and exclusively biological, as opposed to chemical synthesis processes, drastically reduces the environmental impact of this technology for large companies and administrations.
  • Scienta Lab operates Explainable Artifical Intelligence (XAI) in order to address a global and unresolved challenge in immunology and inflammation treatment, namely the choice of a drug treatment adapted to the patient. Scienta Lab models immuno-inflammatory diseases through a machine learning platform XAI in order to establish personalized care paths.

During two days, these 3 startups had the opportunity to discover the Californian ecosystem and the specificities of Silicon Valley thanks to the interventions of our local partners, the French-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco and Business France North America.
They received valuable practical, logistical and legal advice, and conducted workshops accompanied by our speakers from USA Lauching Pad, Gunderson Dettmer and Werqwise.

The following days were dedicated to meetings with researchers, entrepreneurs, industrials and accelerators throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as well as inspiring visits such as at Google X.

Selection for the 2023 edition of the NETVA program is underway, through a call for applications open until November 25 2022.} For more information about the program and the application process, visit: www.netvafrance.com.
The next San Francisco Immersion Week will take place in the spring of 2023.
