A look back at the July 14th festivities in San Francisco

As every year, the traditional flag-raising ceremony at San Francisco City Hall kicked off Bastille Day festivities. Mayor of San Francisco, London Breed, accompanied by the Chief of Protocol of the State of California and the City and County of San Francisco Charlotte Shultz and, the Chair of the San Francisco - Paris Sister City Committee, Thomas Horn, warmly welcomed the Consul General of France, Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens and other French officials to the City Hall for the occasion.

Following the raising of the French flag, London Breed presented the Consul General with a city declaration recognizing July 14 as San Francisco Heritage Day and French-American Friendship Day.
In order to reaffirm the French-German friendship, the Consul General of France invited his German counterpart Hans-Ulrich Südbeck.

On the eve of the national holiday and for the third consecutive year, the largest French festival in San Francisco was held at Embarcadero Plaza. Organized by the Comité Officiel, which brings together the associations of French language or culture from San Francisco and the Bay, this festival attracted more than 6000 people around a multitude of activities; petanque, concert, dance etc. The Consul General greeted all the French and Francophone associations present as well as the American community who also came massively to celebrate Bastille Day!

Lastly, on July 14, the traditional reception was held at the Residence of France with the French community, the team of the French Consulate in San Francisco and its various French and American partners and friends.
