The French Consulate in San Francisco announces the French naturalization ceremony of Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos and Spencer Stone.
The three Americans who foiled the 2015 Thalys train terror attack in France are about to be naturalized as French citizens at the Alliance Française in Sacramento (2420 N Street, Suite 225 Sacramento, CA 95816) on January 31st at 2:00pm by Emmanuel Lebrun Damiens, Consul General of France in San Francisco.
After being celebrated internationally and awarded France’s highest decoration the Legion of Honor by President François Hollande on August 2015, Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos and Spencer Stone have expressed their desire to become French citizens.
“France is proud and happy to welcome you” wrote French President Emmanuel Macron in their official naturalization letter. “You now have full rights attached to French and European citizenship and must fully assume all its duties. Our republic and the European Union need your active participation to make our democracy alive”.
For Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens “By your act of heroism against a terrorist attack, you demonstrated not only an incredible courage but also your attachment to the values that are at the core of the French and the American cultures. Welcome to the home of the peuple français. I am deeply convinced that your lives will showcase the best of your two citizenships.”
