The Louvre, the De Young and the Legion of Honor Museums just signed a 5 years partnership.

On the opening day of the exposition « Royal Treasures from the Louvre: Louis XIV to Marie-Antoinette » (Nov. 17th, 2012 to March 17th, 2013) – first example of this new collaboration – Henri Loyrette, director of the Louvre, and Diane B. Wisley, President of the board for the De Young and Legion of Honor Museums signed this 5 year agreement that is bound to create many exchanges and collaborations between these institutions

For both parties the agreement has been « guided by the desire to develop an international cultural cooperation and to strenghten the ties between France and the US ».

The agreement stipulates that a board composed by representatives of both museums will meet once a year to determine the themes of expositions and educational programs put in place within this partnership. This exchange also predicts the development of joint publications as well as conservation projects.
