Being Jewish in France

Being Jewish in France

Contemporary Jewish Musem

Yves Jeuland’s sweeping new documentary explores the rich and complex
history of Jews in France, beginning with revolutionary cries of “Vive
la France” in Yiddish, and continuing through the Dreyfus Affair, the
Vichy government’s collaboration with the Nazis, and the absorption of
Sephardic Jews from Arab countries after WWII. Narrated by Mathieu
Almaric, the star of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Being Jewish in France
won the Jewish Experience Award at the Jerusalem International Film
Festival. Film provided by The National Center for Jewish Film.
